Unity of Migrant Workers is pleased to be supported by Hackney Giving for three separate projects working with local migrant communities in Hackney.
The support will help us continue and develop practical activities that respond to needs we see every week at our community centre.
Community Breakfast Club Our regular community breakfast brings people together to share food, meet others and spend time in a friendly and welcoming space. It is particularly important for people who may be isolated or have limited opportunities to take part in community activities.
Men’s Health Information Sessions We will run health information sessions for Turkish, Kurdish and other migrant men. Volunteer doctors from our community will join some of the sessions to explain common health issues, NHS services, health checks and where to find reliable health information. Turkish and Kurdish language support will be available where needed.
Community Conversation Café We will also run regular conversation sessions where local residents can meet, talk, share experiences and build new friendships. The aim is simple: to give people more opportunities to connect and feel part of their local community.
Each grant is for a separate agreed purpose and will support the delivery of these specific activities.
We would like to thank Hackney Giving and Hackney CVS for their continued support and confidence in our community work.
